On April 11, 2026, the 2026 ICW Massachusetts Invention Convention concluded with an outstanding result for MGA.

Among the six special awards presented across the entire competition, MGA earned four, delivering one of the strongest performances of the event. Our students received top recognition in energy, sustainability, environmental innovation, and engineering creativity, marking a major milestone for MGA’s invention program.

Major Special Awards Won

  • RTX Dependable Power Award
  • Avangrid Sustainability Award
  • Emerson Green Innovations Award
  • Belcan Passion to Innovate Award

These awards recognize excellence in real-world engineering, sustainability, and innovation, and reflect the strength of MGA students’ hands-on problem-solving and invention work.

Two Projects Advance to U.S. Nationals

MGA also achieved success on both national pathways:

  • In-Person U.S. Nationals: Adela has officially advanced and will represent Massachusetts at The Henry Ford Museum in Michigan, where she will compete alongside top young inventors from across the country.
  • Virtual U.S. Nationals: Andrew & Erin’s LYGG project earned a place through its strong technical quality and innovative design.

Focused Strength in Engineering and Applied Innovation

The remaining two special awards at this year’s competition were in biomedical and modeling categories. MGA’s student projects were focused on hands-on engineering and applied technology, and within those areas, our students achieved exceptional results.

A New Milestone for MGA

After earning three U.S. Nationals spots in 2025, MGA reached an even higher level in 2026 with broader recognition and stronger results. This year’s achievement reflects the continued growth of our students and the strength of MGA’s innovation pathway.

Next stop: U.S. Nationals.
