MGA is a STEAM program that focuses on engineering for young kids (K-8th grade) who enjoy making and creating new things and to problem solve. We are seeking part time teachers to teach and work on different engineering projects with our little engineers during weekday after school hours (after 3:00 PM) and weekends. We are located at Newton.
❖ Engineering Enrichment Program Afterschool/ Weekend Teacher
Responsibilities
● Utilize MGA’s pre-designed lesson plans and resources to effectively teach engineering concepts
● Guide students in designing and building their products through utilizing different tools and software ranging from hot glue guns, laser cutters, 3D printers to autoCAD
● Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and collaboration
● Assess and provide constructive feedback on student progress and development.
● Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance program curriculum and activities.
Requirements
● Background in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering , Education, Computer Science or related field
● Experience in teaching or working with young children in an educational setting
● Strong knowledge of engineering concepts and their practical application.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Ability to engage and inspire students through interactive and innovative teaching methods
● Dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
● Experiences with 3D printers, laser cutters, autoCAD, will be a plus
● Experiences with Arduino will be a plus
Please note: Our program provides comprehensive lesson plans and resources, eliminating the need for teachers to plan their own lessons. We are willing to provide training to teachers to help them grow professionally. We believe in supporting our teachers by providing them with a well-structured curriculum, allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality instruction and fostering student engagement.
Hourly rate: $40-100/hour, depending on experience.
❖ Teaching Assistant
Responsibilities
● Assist lead teachers in implementing engaging lessons and hands-on activities that foster creativity and critical thinking in students.
● Support students in their exploration of engineering principles through project-based learning experiences.
● Facilitate a positive and inclusive learning environment by encouraging active participation and collaboration among students.
● Provide assistance during experiments, demonstrations, and practical activities.
● Help students with understanding concepts, troubleshooting challenges, and offering guidance as needed.
● Assist in managing classroom materials, equipment, and resources.
● Collaborate with lead teachers and other staff members to ensure a smooth and productive learning environment.
Requirements:
● Age 16+
● Experience working with children in an educational or youth development setting
● Engineering background or experiences operating different software/tools such as autoCAD/ laser cutters will be a plus
● Passion for STEM education and an interest in engineering concepts
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Patient, nurturing, and supportive attitude towards young learners
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Please note: Teaching Assistants will work closely with our lead teachers who will provide guidance, lesson plans, and direction for classroom activities. We are willing to provide training to teaching assistants to help them become classroom lead teachers if they are willing.
Hourly rate: $15-30 depending on experience
